Milligan is proud to announce the formation of the Milligan Foundation, a Grant Giving Foundation designed to support existing charities and projects that spark meaningful change in communities — particularly in areas where Milligan Ltd is actively involved in development.
The Foundation will focus on empowering local causes through the provision of expertise, education, skills development, and improvements to community facilities. Its mission is to plant seeds of opportunity that grow into positive change, empowering people of all ages and delivering lasting impact.
“We’ve always believed that the high street — and the places we shape — are about people first,” said John Milligan, the Founder and Chair of Milligan Ltd. “The Milligan Foundation is a natural extension of that belief. It’s about using our platform to support the changemakers already doing incredible work in their communities. I’m delighted that Jonathan Buckingham has agreed to lead our trustees as Chair, he brings a wealth of expertise from the third sector and we’re very lucky to have him on board.”
“The Milligan Foundation is about more than giving back — it’s about building forward,” said Jonathan Buckingham, Chair of the Foundation. “We want to support the communities we’re already working in, not just with bricks and mortar, but with ideas, energy, and opportunities.” Jonathan Buckingham has also been Chair of The Abbey Centre in Westminster, a unique provider of community services, since 2014.
The Foundation’s work will be closely aligned with Milligan Ltd’s development footprint, creating a symbiotic relationship between commercial investment, social impact and philanthropy. By supporting charities and initiatives in the same places where Milligan is delivering projects, the Foundation aims to amplify local momentum and ensure that regeneration benefits are felt more widely.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees bring a diversity of professional interest and experience but with the shared passion for place-making, community engagement, and long-term impact.
The Foundation will begin by identifying and supporting grassroots initiatives in areas where Milligan is currently active, with a focus on projects that align with its mission of opportunity, empowerment, and sustainable growth.
