Stuart Harris joins panel line up at GRO

Stuart Harris took part in an insightful panel discussion last week at GRO, exploring the role of progressive local authorities as active regeneration partners. The session focused on the tools, platforms, and mindsets that enable more effective collaboration between councils and the private sector.

Key topics covered included:

  • Digital systems, funding platforms, and other tools that help councils identify, market, and advance key sites.

  • The benefits for local governments of embracing collaboration and investment-readiness.

  • What effective public-private partnerships look like in 2025, with examples of best practice.

  • How developers, landlords, and occupiers can better engage with councils to unlock stalled projects or underused assets.

  • The role of national policies and regional bodies in supporting coordinated regeneration efforts.

The panel was expertly moderated by Julie Holden, Place & Partnerships Director at SaveTheHighStreet.org, and Amy Taylor, Chair of ATCM Wales, and featured contributions from Alex Nicholson, Town Centre Partnerships & Events Manager at Darlington Borough Council, and John Abbate from Westminster City Council.

Stuart shared his expertise on fostering collaboration between public and private stakeholders, highlighting practical approaches that drive regeneration and create lasting impact in communities.
