The Milligan Foundation has announced the launch of a new charitable fund to support community organisations in Torbay, where Milligan ltd. is already active in a widespread programme of regeneration, alongside Torbay Council and Willmott Dixon.
Delivered through the community funding platform ActionFunder, the initiative will distribute £10,000 across three local charities, each working to support wellbeing, community resilience and opportunity across the Bay.
The first three beneficiaries of the fund are:
- MINDEST CIC – providing specialist trauma-informed counselling support, including therapy services for frontline workers and individuals dealing with complex psychological challenges.
- Above Water – delivering water safety and drowning-prevention education programmes in schools and communities to help people understand risks around coastal and inland waters.
- Unleashed Theatre Company – a community theatre organisation supporting people experiencing homelessness and those in recovery through creative participation and performance, including its forthcoming production The Great Big Unleashed Broadway Show.
Each organisation will receive a share of the funding to support programmes that strengthen local wellbeing, build skills and create opportunities for people across Torbay.
The Foundation focuses on initiatives that promote:
- Health and wellbeing
- Community resilience and inclusion
- Skills, creativity and opportunity
- Long-term local impact
The Torbay fund reflects these priorities by supporting projects that address mental health, safety education and inclusive community participation through the arts. Together, these initiatives will reach individuals and families across Torbay, strengthening the social fabric of the community while complementing the wider regeneration of the area.
Jonathan Buckingham, Chair of the Milligan Foundation, said:
“The Milligan Foundation ensures that regeneration goes beyond buildings and places and also strengthens the communities who live and work there.
“With the Foundation’s inaugural fund, we are proud to support organisations in Torbay that are making a real difference locally, whether that’s improving mental wellbeing, educating young people about water safety or creating inclusive opportunities through the arts. We are committed to giving back to the communities we serve and look forward to seeing the positive impact these projects will deliver across the Bay.”
